VCU Among 21 Sites Renewed for Largest Adolescent Brain Development Study in US
Date Released: 16 December 2020VCU, along with 20 other sites, is part of the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study, the largest long-term study of brain development and child health ever conducted in the US. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) has awarded $11 million for the study over the next 7 years. Data from the study could be used to affect substance use and treatment in teenagers and young adults, and provide insight into the effects of various substances including nicotine, alcohol, and marijuana, on developing brains of children.
